Our first network event is fast approaching. We are holding our Case Study Workshop next week from the 2nd– 3rdApril at Clayhill Arts near Bridgewater in Somerset. We will welcome a group of researchers from a variety of disciplines – from interactive computing, community arts and health, social anthropology and human geography, amongst others, and of course visual art, craft and design. All of us use participatory textile making in our research, but in widely varied ways. A fascinating spread of activities! We’re very much looking forward to hearing, seeing and making more….
Guided by the question “how is participatory textile making being used as a new methodological approach to research?” the workshop will allow us to sample these diverse participatory making activities and concentrate discussion in order to identify key methodological issues for further exploration. We will be interrogating our research practices, considering practical strategies and reflecting on the ethical implications of these approaches.
Such a wealth of experience to share…
